Judging

The judges will convene in January to assess every single entry submitted for this 2012 awards programme.

Entries in all categories will be judged on their relative merits, and through discussion, deliberation and a simple scoring system, the top four entries within each category will become the finalists for the awards evening.

These finalists will be put out to a public vote throughout January and February, however, the ranking (positions 1-4) decided by the judges will carry the following overall weighting:

  • 1st – 40%
  • 2nd – 30%
  • 3rd – 20%
  • 4th – 10%

Judging Panel

—————————————————————————————————————————————-

Judging for all award categories is independent and will be based on the decision of an invited panel of judges under the chairmanship of Steve Schofield, the Technical Director at the BPMA.

The judges will have a broad range of experience in the technical, commercial and academic facets of industrial manufacturing, and editors, trade bodies and recognised independent ‘experts’ will also form part of this committee.

Judging Criteria

—————————————————————————————————————————————

Each entry will be judged on the aforementioned awards criteria, for example ‘Technical Innovation’ will be judged on:

  • Innovation
  • Application
  • Use and relevance of the product
  • Product success

To simplify the judging criteria and to ensure every entry within each category is judged in the same manner a points system will be used to judge each nomination.  ‘5’ will be the maximum number of points available within each section of judging criteria, so using the above example, a maximum of 20 points will be available for all entries within the ‘Technical Innovation of the Year’ category:-

  • Innovation (up to 5 points available)
  • Application (up to 5 points available)
  • Use and relevance of the product (up to 5 points available)
  • Product success (up to 5 points available)
