WaterAid is the international charity dedicated exclusively to the provision of safe domestic water, sanitation and hygiene education to the world's poorest people.
Established by the UK water industry in 1981, WaterAid has developed into a leading international non-governmental organisation helping the world’s poorest people gain access to safe water supplies and latrines, close to home.
It works by helping local organisations set up low cost, sustainable water and sanitation projects using appropriate technology that can be managed by the community itself.
It also helps teach communities about safe hygiene practices and the links between water and sanitation and diseases. This enables people to become healthier and live in a cleaner environment.
